Zooming out to the big picture – why are good schools so important to everyone, even if you don’t have children in school? Ultimately, we hope children become successful adults. We want our community to be a safe and prosperous place to live. These goals are much more difficult without a strong and successful public school system at the heart of the community.

Producing successful PHS graduates ultimately benefits every Plainfield resident. As they say, a rising tide lifts all boats. We want all students to have options after high school, whether they go to college, join the the military or enter the workforce. We hope some of our brightest and best students will remain in the area or return and contribute to a strong local workforce, economy and community, while also preparing those who move elsewhere.

Furthermore, good schools equal higher property values for every homeowner in Guilford Township. Many families decide where to buy homes based on the strength of the local schools. The Plainfield Community School Corporation has a history of excellent fiscal management. PCSC has the lowest tax rate of any school district in Hendricks County, and does not need referendums to fund new construction, renovations or building operations. As a prospective board member I would continue the tradition of strict fiscal responsibility.
